107. 2 12” Late Antiquity

8 tracks released October 2005 *
Bass multitracking on Holiday, recorded on the Island Princess while working with the Dino Fiumara trio, mixed down on another deck, making the final mix slow and flat, a guitar composition with recoding anomalies, and a random improvisation salvaged by Sky Ladd’s Rhodes overdub. Loose ends closing the anolog era.

The surviving improvisation from a session with Dave Pachetta and Nate Souders, wherein the first take which was lost was three times better than what remains here.

The second side features bass with digital delay creating the sound of a room full of basses. The third side is the most dramatic thing yet - the violent sound of unearthing suppressed memories.

Features ‘Of Blur’ from my first commercial release ‘Exhibitionist’ - a nineteen minute exploration incorporating Ornette Coleman’s ‘Broadway Blues’ - really a reprise of the bass-only version which kicks off this album, followed by the trumpet vehicle ‘Mo Better Blues’ and an electronic suite.

Except for the first track, I play all the instruments on this album. This is a very different album, featuring abstract but pleasing music.

A soundtrack album for a non-existent sci-fi movie. Features many keyboards and weird sounds and percussion. The music does correspond with a storyboard that will be done someday.

A batch of unrelated sessions made possible by WMO sharing the same space as Licitysplit. There is an electronic Sean Hart original, an electronic Sean Hart version of one of my originals, and the fist three were done by reverse-enginering rap songs taped off of BET’s Rap City.

The first double album featuring many different settings. New effects and guests are featured. A meaningful original sound is starting to emerge.

A contemplative sound featuring lots of basses and rhodes, some with Ed on drums. The bass and drum sessions with Ed are becoming more coherent and substantive, yielding a few catchy tunes. The intro is pure hypnosis, thus ‘Sleep’.

A simple collection of grooves featuring David Carano on drums for the first eight parts and myself on bass, rhodes, and unaffected guitar.

The instrumentation expands further featuring Sean Hart and John Schroeder from Wise Monkey Orchestra on experimental noises, my drumming, Ed and David’s drumming and more bass, keyboards, and guitar to arrive into a five-part title suite.

Longer pieces groping towards a ‘theme album’ conception; seguing from acoustic to electronic and back again featuring again both Ed Fletcher and David Carano on drums and my performance on bass, guitar, prophet, and electronic percussion.

Shorter songs with Ed on drums. The title track features myself on steel pans, setting up a tropical feel. Side B features a new song written and recorded one a day for four days. Appropriately the first is ‘Song of the Day’.
